Looks like a Tardif job. I've not seen a Sheaffer like that but someone showed me another pen with similar nib that was done by Nathan.

Yes, at the last Janesville meeting! I hear we are having another one on the 26th. Where would that be David?

Ahhh, the game is afoot.

More pics to follow, after I get sign-out. Roger has already seen this pen, so I'll ask him to avoid beaning the spills (what?).

How do my PENnant articles typically end.... "Even after 35 years of hobby research still there is room for fresh exploration..."

I guess WS5 means a wide ( or wopper!!) stub...starting to look more genuine, I guess could have been special/custom order for writing billboard posters...it's still ugly.

The code on the base of the nib seems to indicate it was a custom job by the factory in Fort Madison, but I have a hard time seeing a use for it -- even for producing posters. Can you really ink the surface of that tip and write more than a few words before the pen starts to run dry? A #14 sac doesn't hold all that much ink. Have to admit it's kind of cool to look at, though....

Noperootie.

Borrowed it from Susan after the last Janesville Pen Club meeting, shot it at home in NYC and had to return it to her at DC. That pen traveled a bit.

Borrowed it from Susan...

As in "Just write something on this piece of paper... no, NOT your signature, just something everyday. Hmmm. Ok, I have the perfect nib for your handwriting!"?

Really intriguing. Each tine would be insanely broad by itself. Surely that's as much tipping as at least a dozen typical Sheaffer fine points! I'd love to know the story behind this one.
Does such a story exist?

It would go well with Pelikan yellow highlighter ink...
