Just acquired a very strange contraption in a batch of pens - it appears to be a piston filled ball point made in Germany under the name of Rubulor 54 sometime during the 50's or early 60's. Stylistically, it bears quite a strong resemblance to Centropen products of the same era.

Anybody know anything of these devices ?

I note from Steve Hull's FPFTM that Penkala marketed such a ballpoint fountain pen in the early 1950s, though I've never seen one myself, either pictured or in the flesh. Penkala were owned by Roll-Tip, the company that was amalgamated with CS in the 1960s. Steve might have pictures in advertising in his archive for comparison with yours if you ask him.

I love these types of pens! Currently, I have a Koh-I-Noor and the P45 with the felt-tip. I just aquired the "Parker Marker" this year. I love the fact you can use ink in these pens instead of a FP(for copies/dups/etc..)!

I had two modern versions previously- a Yafa model, and the Pelikan Ink Roller. Both of the points on these models gave out though! I'm guessing this is why replacement tips for new versions are so easy to come by?? You see them a lot with Monteverde's Mega Ball pens!
