Sheaffer cap band question, same guy as the overgraded Waterman's

Looks like a balance with a replacement nib to me. Normally the clip on a Junior will bear the imprint "Sheaffer Jr.".

I missed the non-Jr clip, but isn't that too wide a cap band for a non-White Dot, non-jeweler's band cap? Not too flush either...as if it's a replacement cap band.

Hi,

Keep in mind that for short slender Balance, four different models exist, separated by nib and by cap trim. It is very easy to make frankenpens.

That said, to me the cap-ring in any case does look like a weak aftermarket thing.

Talk about discoloration! Yo can see where the cap threads sat on the body, and where the discoloration starts. Also at the back of the pen, almost looks like major usage/crack separation/repair.
