Band on a 51

Can someone tell me what the band on the barrel of the 51 is? I haven't seen something like that before.

Did you buy it? No idea on the band. I had asked for a picture of the filler units before somebody else bought it.

This is quite unique, is it gold filled like the cap? Maybe that gives a bit of relevance, hence 14k GF cap and GF band?

I don't think the band's gold composition is relevant, because the band is not original to the pen.

With luck the blind cap in not damaged. Otherwise it becomes a donor.

Well I paid $85 for both of them, so I was willing to take the risk. Turns out the 51 is not damaged, so I'm not really sure what the point of the band was. I haven't been able to identify what the symbol means either.
