Hi
I just got an Australian Imperial I by auction, I wouldn't normally have bothered but it was "bundled" with a nice Statesman snorkel, I have been keen to do a snorkel restoration.
Anyway, I am surprised at how much I like the Imperial. Although obviously a cheaper pen, it is in very good condition and writes well after a little nib tweaking. The sac is in good condition and the touchdown mechanism operates as it should.
My question is, how does one remove the nib unit for cleaning?
Thanks for any help
John

Hi John,
Can't answer that from experience but I'd think you would unscrew the hood/section from the connector ( the bit with the sac on it) and push the whole unit out from the front . I've got one and I haven't figured out how to replace the o-ring yet so if anyone knows how the tube unscrews I'd be grateful too !!
Regards
Hugh

Using specialist pen tool #1 (crescent tool co. pliers with a section of inner tube between the jaws) I unscrewed the connector from the section, then a gentle fingertip push on the tip of the nib was all that was required to pop it out the top of the section.
Thanks again Hugh
