Sheaffer Jade Desk Set. Happy Davey.

This turned up today, traded to me by Paul Erano in exchange for all sorts of stuff from the  Janesville Pen Hoard I'd recently acquired.

What a beautiful pen David!
I have a weak spot for desk pens, specially those with bases in the same celluloid as the pens. Until now, I have only seen this on Vacumatics.

Always interesting when they come with sockets way later than the original issue.  Quite correct in my opinion as I believe that Sheaffer held desk bases in inventory until they were ready to ship at which point they were matched to a socket and pen.  The set you show is a 112 which would place it about 1931 though yours shows a 1940 setup however you've got the wrong pen with it (not the jade but, the section).  Mine is sitting with the wrong pen as well.  I think yours would be the second one I've ever seen.

So far I only collect Snorkel Deskpens and Sheaffer Lenox China Deskpens, looks like I have to re-consider in building a deskpens collection
