Hi again, grateful if someone can guide me on the following questions:
I have understood that Sheaffer, Snorkel early generation or perhaps first edition, installed the snorkel golden color, my question is this: the snorkek is gold or was gold Plated ?, perhaps? or just a gold tone metal - I have read several versions of this and I could not find definitive information. Thanks in advanced

It is apparently solid 14K gold. Samples were tested by well-known Sheaffer collectors.

I have never seen any sign of plating wear on any of these, even on examples where the tips have been bent and nicked.
