HI All!
Well, I scored a few weeks ago! As they say, when one door closes, another one opens!
I have been working with this antique dealer for quite some time, actually a few years, and finally I was able to purchase his collection of pens at a very fair price. This antique dealer really appreciated my honesty, integrity as well as immediate payment for the collection. I was going to surprise and share with a friend of mine, but alas, I cannot do this now.
It seems this antique dealer collected these pens as he bought them over a 37 year period from what I remember him saying, with no real specific brand/style. That made for a great collection of different things to have. I must have over 30 combo pens, mostly the lower end stuff, but the plastic colors are quite wild.
Most of the collection are pens that need restoration, pens I could use for my website, but out of the collection are some really nice collectable pieces.
Just a small sample of trays of the better stuff, enjoy, and yes, that smooth Conklin is 14k gold. The 51's have gold trim, double jewel of course, and a few of those Sheaffer's are gold band/clip versions, including a solid gold cap.
That Combo pen that is a tiger stripe pattern, wow, talk about fat! I don't know much about the red Conklin, but it is big, and the twist filler is restored/holds ink. Check out that Eagle Set with the cross hatch pattern, really neat plastic. All the larger Oversized Sheaffer's Balance pens have perfect caps, no cracks on the cap lips.
As I said, this is just a sample, enjoy!
