Ouch. Does this have a story?

Hi Farmboy this was a P45 which I bought from England on eBay. It didn't write well so I decided to dismantle and clean. It took two days of soaking and a considerable amount of force to separate;the nib and feed, and when I finally got the hood off this is what "lurked beneath" under a black crusty layer. I would love to know what kind of "ink" it was? The pen is either 1994 or 2004 Flighter.
