This all GF set is currently on ebay and I haven't a clue as to the model or age. The clip is 2nd or 3rd generation Symphony-esqe (1st gen w/ Slipper cap didn't say "Made in USA" above the name). The seller describes it as "slim," but it's certainly not a Slim Ventura. The pencil is very plain, with an eraser cap unlike a Symphony. Banner nib. But note especially that the pen is a SLIP CAP!

Any ideas from the Eversharp experts?

It's got a dream nib too!

Speaking of nib... that nib says 1940s to me in a body that says very early 1950s (not that I've ever seen a slip cap Eversharp). The body looks like those Star Reporter style pens that, as I understand it, may not have actually had a name. Those had a smallish nib though (same size as the nib in a Demi Skyline, or close enough that they can be swapped, anyway), but this nib looks like it would be right at home in a standard Skyline (looks like a Skyline "Banner" nib to me, actually). Pretty darn interesting.

If it was a Sheaffer I'd think 'Odd features... must be Canadian'... except for the obvious Made in U.S.A. on the nib.

Sharp pen, whatever it is.

I'm no expert, and I'm embarrassed to have forgotten the model name, even though I own one and have discussed the model with El Zorno, as he recently found one.

Obviously, it is not the Skyline, Symphony, 5th Ave, or Slim Ventura (Burp Pen). Possibly the Loewy?? It slots I'd guess between Symphony and Burp Pen on the time line. Actually Ron has one for sale over at maintreetpens.com, but he is calling it a Burp Pen and I believe it is not that, so there you go. If Unca' Don's email box isn't full anymore, I'll ask him to comment. Actually a post at the Zoss List might help.

Could it be the Envoy? Or an all gold Symphony bullet?

Envoy looks to be the pen, allowing especially for bit of artistic license in the ad drawing.

Tony, if the ad is dated, please let us know the date.

best regards

David

I'm not Tony, but I found the same ad in the Dec 13, 1948 issue of "Life" magazine here:

Bravo! This may well have been the perfect "What model is this?" thread. Speculative discussion followed by difinitive printed documentation that not only gives us the model name and when it was available, but excellent context as well.

Outstanding. This is really how you want it to go when you say "Hmm, what have I got here?"

One of the two Parker-Eversharp versions of the Envoy, this is circa 1965 (the other has a different clip and a GP button). The paperwork is almost as interesting as the pen.
