Bock has graciously introduced a new nib with an innovative slit:

I call it the Cardiologist's nib. Reminds me of an EKG.
Does the feed's channel have to follow the slit?

- Doing a wonky slit doesn't break the original - they'll still be there.
- Variety is the spice of life. Maybe an interesting new pen just cries out for a newly designed slit?
Agreed on both counts....Wonder if this design will cut down on nib creep of some inks?
I like the EKG similarity....brings to mind the heart-shaped breather-holes of some vintage nibs.
Thanks for sharing this Doc!

Fully right Greg, straightening such a bend nib will be much more difficult!Wow, what a nib! Now try and straighten that nib when there is an accident; a challenge!

I am not sure there is a benefit in making an assymetrical slit, except for the aeshetical aspect .
It can I even be considered as a disadvantage.
Personally I see it as a "gadget" , aiming being "different".
Any assymetry between the two tines can create a "unbalance", resulting in the fact the "weaker" tine flexes more easily then the other.
The risks of "tension cracks" in the grooves - due to the notch effect - is also increasing
Not fully sure, but .....
