Don't know about you, but I have a liking for National Pen products stuff from the 20's / early 30's flat top era when their quality was still up with the best. In the past I have owned and sold on several Lincoln, Lakeside, Gold Bond and Good Service pens made by NPP and found them on the whole to be pretty agreeable instruments.
I have just bagged another of their finest on e-bay for $68, item no 220820759508 if you fancy a look. I think it appears to be a decent specimen. Anyway, it was within budget something that an orange Duofold or Sheaffer flat top rarely is, and as for cardinal Watermans - forget it unless they are broken or incomplete.
So, it looks like I have another NPP pen to play with for a while.

I agree with you on these pens. That looks like a nice one. I keep getting beat on all of the Lincoln MRHR flattops I find on Ebay though.

Tell me about it - they seem to make strong money. Justifiably so in my view. Anyway, I have a Wyvern 61 MRHR flat top from the mid 20's that looks pretty much the same but made in the UK in penny numbers which cost me £10 !

To me a number of the Lincoln flat tops appear to have a Conklin connection, some carry the Conklin feed.

Congratulations on your purchase! Here is one(LINCOLN) from my collection. The parts point to NPP as far as I can see. I had never heard of a Conklin connection, but anything is possible, I suppose.

Please post photos, when you get the pen.

Here's one I had on my website couple years back. Believe Webster (or at least one of two Websters) was Sears house brand. This one has all the signs of National origins. This one is plastic.

I do invite images from National. I have a few pens lying about and suspect many of us have a some of 'em.

The ones that come to mind have been "sapphire" blue , the feed seems to indicate that at minimum some parts where sourced from Conklin at some stage (iirc these are the only ones I've seen without the "normal" national feed), my suspicion is they may have been made by Conklin for National. They also share some celluloid colours , besides blue the black/gold appears in both brands...not that that means much. Both yours and VPs rather nice "new" addition seem more standard National products.

A couple of National combos ( cased National and a Gold Crown). Like VPs the Nat. has a very flexible No.8 nib, not great examples but both decent users that feel good in the hand, well made as well.

The gold crown celluloid is very similiar to that used by Conklin ,as is the blk/cream.

Well, here's the orange Lincoln, complete with National Pen Products, Chicago imprint. It has a nice semi flex Warranted 14ct #8 nib which seems a little small for a pen of this size at 14cm capped and 1.4cm barrel diameter. It is in very nice condition with no damage and only minor brassing to the trim. Excuse the poor photographs.
