Hi Everyone,

Here are two retips I did today for a client. One is a Montblanc 1.8mm stub and the other is a Montblanc custom music nib, also measuring 1.8mm.

Hi Greg,

They have come up very nicely indeed!! Being somewhat ignorant when it comes to these "big" nibs can you tell me what most people would use a music nib for? I guess writing music is the obvious!! I was wondering if it was more to get enough ink onto the paper.

Regards
Hugh

Thank you Hugh! I am not sure what people use "music" nibs for, but I think I would gather that making the various notes, and bars, it would come in handy. All I know is that a double slit is a music nib Posted Image

Someone with a musical background might be able to make a contribution here.Posted Image

Hugh:
Studied composition for about twelve years, three of them at the Manhattan School of Music.

A music nib is great for writing notation, but inefficient for drawing staffs. There are nibs with five tines to do that job. They look like a pitch fork, and are dip pens. No-one has figured out a feed for a nib that is nearly an inch wide. I should still have a couple of them around. If interested , will snap a pic.

But today, music nibs are used by people with really large handwriting, and are great for bold, John Hancockean (is there such a word?) signatures.

Greg:
Sweet work

Matt:
Thanks for posting this. I was afraid someone would call my offer for a pic and who knows where those nibs are now.
Must add. This is not what comes to mind when I'm offered a French post card.
