From 19 to 22 January at Fieramilanocity, a fountain pen exhibition will take place at the CartExpo 2012 show.

The exhibit is being organized by OPS, publisher of Penna Magazine (www.pennamagazine.com).
Penna celebrates its one-hundredth issue and the launch of new electronic magazine Penna Vintage created in collaboration with Pennamania (www.pennamania.it), an Italian discussion forum dedicated to vintage pens.

Penna Vintage is the first bi-monthly exclusively in electronic format and is dedicated to the world of both Italian and international vintage pens, with rich insights, beautiful photographs and all the possibilities that only a digital format offers.

The main theme of the exhibition is Italian overlay pens from 1919 to 1940. For the first time ever attendees can admire the beauty and quality of the Italian production in this particular field.

Italian overlays are considered some of, if not, the most beautiful, refined and even the best quality; it's no surprise that today they are the most sought after and traded by collectors.

For the first time together, rolled gold overlays from the most important brands, such as Aurora, The King, Ancora, Rapid, Everest, Kosca, Waterman's, Uhlmann's, F.lli Cavaliere , Davide Capra etc..., will be shown together.
These top companies also made overlays for international brands such as Montblanc, Pelikan,Parker, Kaweco, Swan and many others.

Available for purchase at the show will be an exhibition catalog, which besides its high symbolic value, is a physical demonstration of the achievements of excellent Italian goldsmiths.

At the OPS stand, there will be a café, which will serve as a meeting place not only for collectors, but also enthusiasts and visitors to relax, share their passion and show their pens.

Sunday the 22nd is dedicated to collectors, enthusiasts and the curious attracted to the world of vintage fountain pens.

See you at the exhibition!

Hi Riccardo ;)

I am wondering if in fact you are attending, would you consider identifying, or at least try to identify the only Italian overlay pen in my collection? [photo below]

I have been told it is possibly by Aurora or Montegrappa, but that is all.
The only markings on it are near the turn-screw at the blind end, where it says 'Cirene 18KR'

Respectfully

Hi Garth
your overlay pen is not Aurora but Montegrappa or F.lli Cavaliere.

All the best

Riccardo

Riccardo

Thanks for sharing the photographs.
Wish I had been able to be there... look like there were family to my lone overlay.
