recently found this pen in overall very good condition. have read a lot about the first year pelikan 100s and 2nd years--and i am not 100% sure what i have. the cap sure seems correct with no bands and the early 4 baby pelikan top script.
where i am not sure about the pen starts with the nib which does isnt the first year heart nib-likely a second year. i know there are some variances in the barrel on these that give clues but would love any imput on the pen. if its a first year,
could be a wise move to locate the heart hole nib and get it correct. anyway it was a fun find and hope the gurus here can give me some clues. thanks robert

It looks to me that you have a 1929 cap and cap top and a post 1930 barrel and nib.

From what I know that barrel is not a first year, because a Pelikan 100 first year barrel and section was made of Bakelite in one piece only with a dark purple - burgundy colour in the ink window.

Finding a heart shape hole nib will not make this pen a 1929 Pelikan, for that you would also need a Bakelite barrel. It may be easier to find a cap and a conical cap top with the 4 logo birds and make a 1931 pelikan 100, and keep the cap and cap top if you ever find a correct barrel and nib

I have one bakelite barrel unfortunately broken in the section area ( I broke it myself :(.... one of by biggest regrets dealing with fountain pens) and the colour is very different from yours. I don't have the heart shape hole nib tough, still looking!!!.

It looks to me that you have a 1929 cap and cap top and a post 1930 barrel and nib.

I am no guru! hope this helps

Best regards
