doesn't this pen remind you of its somewhat more illustrious cousin? i was bidding on this early but decided to let it go because i was focused on another pen at the time. this went for just $76. i saved the pics from the ebay ad because you don't see this turn up very often. i wonder if this was actually made by parker, or if the pens came from the same stock:

Hi Jose,

Recollection is all three Parker Royal Challenger colors and two sizes (same diameter, long and short), as well as "Golden Web" plastic.

I have 2-3 RC colors lying about.

There is no evidence these were made by Parker. Very chintzy product. Not in front of me but recollection is that unlike certain somewhat chintzy Parker re-badges (eg. Good Service, Safford) parts do not seem compatible or of similar style to Parker. Too, Diamond Point is believed to be its own manufacturer, not a rebrand/sub-brand. PENnant had a 4-5 part article on the company a year or three back.

They have charm of course because they use the same plastic that Parker used on a limited range of pens and because that plastic is very distinct.

Still, $76 might be world record price for one, or maybe not... who knows. Most of mine I've picked up at pen shows for $10-25.

They are interesting critters.

Geez, they really ripped off Parker, down to the design on the cap band and the visulated section. The plastic is a bit different, at least the herringbone design is. It appears that the plain portions of the design are much wider than the Parker version.

Those are very cool pens. If Diamond Point is unrelated to Parker, those are litigation-worthy interpretations of the original. It's kind of ironic. Today, the Royal Challengers and Golden Web are desirable because of their celluloid, but in their day, they were in the middle of Parker's lineup. You would think that Diamond Point would copy Parker's top tier instead of its middle. Perhaps those were the only Parker plastics they could get their hands on. At any rate, I find these copies interesting and I'll keep my eye out for them.
