Do you guys think its silver, or tarnished gold fill?
I doubt it is sterling or gold filled - it is just too low level of a pen. The warranted nib is a surprise but, it might not be original.

It's got to be either aluminum or silver, its a slip cap, 14k Warranted nib. It's dirty, and i could probably clean it, and it reminds me or rust, but im pretty sure it will come off if i clean it. But like silver, i dont wreck the patina...

If it isn't marked as silver, it probably isn't. While I have not done hard research, I suspect metals besides aluminum were used often, maybe overwhelmingly on old flat-top metal pens. This pen would be awfully light were it made from aluminum.

Ingersoll was using aluminum. Don't know what else would be white and cheap.

Dunno. Tin? Base metal with chrome plating?
Does Aluminum rust?

Im not sure, looks definitely like it has been used, and like the ebay auctions on these pens, it was gold plated at one time. Ive got a few aluminum pens, and there is no rust, and it gets pitted from ink before it rusts.
