Came across this on the 'bay.

Labelled as a Conklin Ottawa pen, the feed looks Conklin style ( maybe the shape?) but the rest doesn't ....especially the "high quality" nib Posted Image ....So is there any actual link ( ie sub brand) or not. Not that it interests me as a pen....ugly comes to mind with this one....

"Ottawa" was one of Conklin's subbrands.  The Ottawa were the original inhabitants of the Toledo, Ohio area.  One of the wealthier suburbs of Toledo (separately incorporated) was and is Ottawa Hills.

Another nickname for Toledo was "Frogtown", as it was sited in a swampy area.  Too bad no pen name made reference to that monicker!

Hi David,

Thank you for the info. Would these have originally just come with a warranted nib? ...it's starting to look better now!! I guess the "Frogftown" moniker just never "jumped" into the big picture as an option !

Warranted nibs are the norm on these, I believe.  Don't recall ever having seen an Ottawa-marked nib.
