I was in awe first seeing this, and thought i would be able to get it for sure under $300 (that's my all time max, and would be my new most expensive pen) but it's a Waterman ive never seen. Has anyone else?

Hi Brando,

Pretty pen, but I would not use such dramatic jargon to describe it. Smooth gold covered 52's are neat, but not particularly uncommon, certainly not once placed in the context of solid gold pens. The top appears just to be a customization. I could bite the top of one of my solid gold Watermans and advertise it, i suppose, as "unique ultra rare tooth pattern". That would be true enough... though perhaps not particularly helpful ;)

Of course if I am missing something, I'm happy to hear from other Waterman collectors.

Too, the selling price seemed quite reasonable.

While it does look like a nice pen, it doesn't particularly excite me. An overlay done by a European jeweler is almost unique, by definition. I would be much more interested in a very rare production pen, because that would tell much more about the history of the Waterman company and its pens. I am familiar with this seller, and have bought several very nice pens from him. He will not disappoint you, if you decide to buy from him.

Schrödinger's cat walks into a bar.  And doesn't.

Allan

Ive never spent over $200 on a pen Posted Image, so at $433 i was sadly not a buyer. Ive never need a ruby or gemstone (besides blood stone and diamonds) on a vintage Waterman, so when i saw this, i thought it would be a great pen to add next to say my bloodstone capped Waterman 12 silver overlay fountain pen. The question is, have you seen any vintage Waterman besides this one with some sort of stone on top?
