Hi,

I am not really a waterman collector but this set caught my eye.
Would this be classed as a nurses set?

Above pic was taken in bad light.
this pic (from listing) shows a truer likeness of colour

Info and comments appreciated.

My guess judging by the triple cap bands it would be a doctor's set. Which size nib does it have ? Nurses sets generally have a #2 nib.

The OP has a pretty nice set, i take it the three bands must mean a nurse set, not an ordinary pearl set. ON the OP photograph, the trim does look pretty warn, but still a nice complete set none the less.

Looks to me to have silver and not gold trim though I do not insist.

Note the price band still on the thermometer case.

I don't note definite wear on the OP set.

Too, be careful "taking" things.

1940's Waterman is not a prime focus for me, though I do have catalogues and ads lying about here and there. I don't know of anything citing band count as indicating "Doctor" vs "Nurse" or even "Medical" vs routine, for Waterman. Of course... something might be out there. But, Waterman used triple bands on different pens during that decade, including the 100-year pen early on.

Thanks David,

I wasn't sure of the gold-filled bands vs the regular silver colored bands.

Thanks David,

I wasn't sure of the gold-filled bands vs the regular silver colored bands.

My main implication being-- as previously-- be careful making strong claims instead of asking/speculating.

Thanks for all the info folks.

To answer some questions.

The trim is silver and shows virtually no wear.
The nib is a #2a (see pics)

As stated previously I have little knowledge regarding Waterman pens and their value.

Was This a reasonable price to pay for this set?

Regards
Paul.
