I was unpacking a long-forgotten box under my workbench and discovered that I have one of the "8 ball" black ceramic desk sets. I guess I must have picked one up somewhere along the way, but it was so long ago I don't remember when more where. Go figure.

I got one to stand on my desk and I find it very convenient. Just pick up the pen and write, replace when finished!!

I like them too, but the pens need to be used often. Otherwise ink pools in the feed due to gravity. The slightest touch or flick and you get an ink blob.

I have three at my office desk. They are convenient, but I need to clean them every Friday otherwise they dry up in the weekend

I have a few Esti desk sets, mostly the dipless, but no space at home to set them up to use.  :(

Except for the 2 on the kitchen table (Parker and Sheaffer), I am restricted to what fits into my pen cup.

I do like the convenience of using a desk pen.  Just pull it out of the holder and start writing.  Much more convenient than a capped pen.  As long as you have the desk space to set up and use it.
