It's funny because I hinted at some big changes at FPN yesterday at a Pen Posse based on cryptic messages Wimg made a few days earlier. I came home to find this fiasco. We're breaking out the popcorn and sprinkling the truffle salt. This is going to be entertaining.

'The Mall' has been operating for some time, though it was formerly known as 'The Conway Stewart Forum'........

Well, well, well !! I notice it's also been incorporated, maybe it has new owners with a greater eye to profit , understandable as I guess it would cost a bit to run. In all fairness it's a logical progression that probably needed to be made at some point ( of course I think money has been involved for quiet a while...). At least it ends speculation, still some of the "merchandise" in the "cafe press" is a bit...poor.

Regards
Hugh

No forum has lasted forever. FPN has had a good run and is likely to be showing signs of being on the wane. Who knows how long they will continue to last. I just like helping people with their questions - not as likely to do that in something that is not really a community anymore. I'm really tired of the ink wench that gets mad at the people concerned about Noodlers. Saturated inks are bad for pens, they are going to stain - which is not rocket science. Corruption on the Conway Stewart board is a joke. I generally haven't been bothered where I play but, you start getting a bad taste in your mouth. Maybe this board is the new thing - maybe not...

Perhaps then you guys can invite some of your friends there to play here. :)

I would bet many would enjoy our style and suspect they don't even know we are here.

Does that mean that they will have to file accounts in future?

The premium accounts is the reason why I am here. At the moment I am on both forums. But when TFPN goes belly up I will be comfortable here.

Other threads linger.

I just posted a question related to this discussion.

Posted Today, 09:31 PM
How does it work if you own or work for a pen company and moderate? Do you need to buy in? I think this exists in at least one case.

I'm waiting for them to charge everybody a monthly fee just to read the board.

I think this may be a classic case of conflict of interest myself, but what do I know?

I honestly believe them when they say that everyone is not expected to pay a membership fee and that they want the sellers to pony up for the site. Problem is that almost every seller has to pony up including the little guy. I expect, for the expertise I give on their board, to get a free ride! Their marketplace seems confusing for the almost no amount of pens that I sell though that I've not found it worth my time to try. It is a board ran by bureaucrats and they love to create new rules to solve every little problem and that will eventually destroy the board. It is not that much fun for the serious collector as it is a predominantly driven user board but, you know that much when you play - the ever increasing rules and the lack of regard for those that can answer the questions is disturbing. You loose the guys that can answer the questions - what then is the point of the board?

Roger W.
