Yes, I've seen one before but only one. Zachy bought it in a private transaction at the Chicago show a few years ago. His had some of the entries punched. This one is in better condition.


I don't recall much about the purpose of the item except that it is some sort of gambling thing as described in this dealer's note. I don't know if they're mid-1920s or a bit later.

$450 seems pretty rich but it's hard to tell what someone will pay for scarce ephemera like this. I get curious enough with this kind of thing that I would probably pay $250 for it if I could get the dealer down on it. But I don't know what "market value" truly is on this kind of thing

Punch boards are a bit like lottery cards or a raffle. You paid a fee and then punched a pin through a hole on the board. The hole has a small coiled note telling you what you won-usually nothing. These were often 'sponsored' by the local Grange or VFW and found in bars. The odds were fixed giving a profit to the sponsor and the operator if the board punched out. In a small town if someone hit the jackpot early word spread and the board would be avoided. The price seems high but I have not dealt in this arena in many years.
