Just ran across an extremely nice new Snorkel. Still has about half the chalk mark left on the pen, and the complete mark on the pencil. They have seen ink, but otherwise are as close to mint as possible. And, being a Valiant with a Periwinkle section, there's as much Periwinkle as possible!

Actually, I'm glad that these colors have such a cache that they are known to collectors for their rare nature. Otherwise you guys would be nearly indistinguishable from all those peeps with their rainbow Lamy Safari collections...

I'm familiar with your site and do frequent it; It is a great resource, indeed. And I appreciate your willingness to include the prices on your sold items. However, I am interested in learning the value of a boxed, chalk-marked (cellophane too!) Periwinkle set in particular, something I did not see on your sold list. I'm guessing that those parameters have some additional affect on the price.

Of course, I could have missed it--you've sold more than a couple of pens it seems!

I like this set, and I will be in DC.

It is also on my want list from last year (2012)

and keep in mind, when Rick likes something, he likes to pay a price in relation to where he can go to the trusty safe and look at it any time he wants.

Rick, I like your spirit! That's the sort of determination that fills a "trusty safe" will all sorts of interesting bits.

I won't be in DC, but here is the Periwinkle set I was inquiring about. I'm not a Sheaffer collector. I was simply trying to get some accurate information before I attempted to move them along.

And do excuse the quality of the photo, please. It is Periwinkle and not Pastel Blue, despite the ambiguity the photo may create.

In David's sold pens archive, he has a chalk marked periwinkle pen only (no pencil or cellophane) that he had listed for $295 and withdrew from sale from one reason or another.
He also had a Mandarin set (albeit with conical PdAg nib instead of gold) in very similar presentation to yours (box, price tag, mint) that sold for $375, and Periwinkle is a rarer color than Mandarin.

Keep in mind that David gets high retail for his pens because he is a well known seller with good reputation and gives warranty on his pens.

I know this isn't an exact answer, but pricing pens is not an exact process.
