Recently, I came along a quite interesting pen. Now, I am curious if someone of you experts can name it correctly.

The pen is branded correctly on clip, Barrel and nib. The filler is a duofold style push knob, nothing uncommon.

Sorry for the low quality pics, but otherwise you guys could read the maker on clip, Barrel and nib. I will update this thread daily with some additional hints.

First hint: The brand is mentioned in the newest issue of the pennant magazine.

the clip, the bands, and the general shape suggest to me a wahl pen.

Thanks Jose.

Well, this would be a little bit too easy, don't you think? :)

Maybe I have to ad a second hint: it is not a Wahl pen.

The nib has a Sheaffer look to it - could it be one of their sub brands ?

Negative.

Pencopen?

Negative too.

Another hint: amazingly, this is not a U.S. made pen.

This is just the sort of item for our proposed thread on copies (or "tribute" designs, if you prefer)!

The clip is copied from Wahl-Eversharp, as is the overall shape (noting the black plug at the cap top is quite different, as is the button-filler). The cap banding is copied from Parker, while the two-tone nib treatment is copied from Sheaffer.

Nothing like this was ever done in the USA, but I'll not spoil the fun further.

Thank you David. What you say is absolotely correct, except the black plug at the cap top which does not exist. Probably just the poor Picture...

I've seen lots of copied design features of well known pen makers as you mention, but in most cases this pens were "no-name" pens or of cheaper quality. This one is different I think because of two reasons:

1. the pen seems to be of fine Quality.

2. The maker is well known and this is what makes it funny in my opinion.

Please let me know if I am wrong and I will expose the mystery immediately.

It's not, but the possibilities are getting less...

The nib looks like an Osmia or Faber Castell. Are either of those correct?

Sorry to be a spoiled sport, but these "can you guess what this pen is" threads are pretty boring. Wouldn't this be a more educational thread talking about the pen and how it's features are copies from various entities, as David N noted?

There is of course plenty of room offered here for divergent viewpoints on what makes for a good thread. We're not FPN after all ;)

But, I see a solid degree of information appearing in this thread and in the general case in threads of this sort.

The offering of possible answers itself teaches about the pens being considered, offering parallels among the unknown pen and known pens.

And, of course, if I grow bored I always can skip the thread.

I'm all for the dangling of "Whatcha think this is?"

I'm sure we'll eventually see the answer.

And, too, I might be biased, as I like to offer such threads myself. Indeed, it is quite likely I am well overdue...

I like this kind of topics; although I'm a bit impatient to know more of this pen I know that my patience will be rewarded (because it will be, right?)

I think it's Italian, and actually I have already saw a similar one (or at least it's what I think), but I can't recall anything more, at first I would have said Omas, but since it's not the right answer I'm not sure, maybe a Radius?

It's a great looking pen. The clip does resembles a Soennecken clip.. the shape a Whal, the celuloid a MB...but I have never seen such a pen. I would say maybe is a Danish Penol or any sub-brand like Benco....

I do enjoy this king of topics, the suspense ( if not prolonged) helps me to be more avid for the later information that will come out and therefore less likely to forget it.

Hope to get a review and more detailed info, Christof!!

Best regards

i like these guessing games myself. there's already too much information laid out in the pen world, as it is. mysteries exercise the imagination ;)
