It seems to be an error in production, I'm surprised it left the factory that way. Definitely an interesting pen.

Maybe last nib late on Friday ? or first on Monday morning after a session on Sunday night? Certainly didn't punch out anyway, I wonder how much is holding it in?

I'm sure I've seen other UK Waterman nibs like this -- and, now that I think about it, French-made Waterman nibs as well. Would love to learn more about the backstory, though, whatever that might be.

I've actually got a keyhole nib - came in a Frankenpen, a Trupoint, much to my delight.  Except mine is punched out all the way, this one appears to be still intact like the hole didn't get totally punched through.  I'll shoot a picture if I get a chance.

Here is my Waterman keyhole nib. I don't know what generation this nib is, if the keyhole pattern was widely used, or what it may have been in originally.  It's a nib waiting for a pen to show up....  Actually plan to put in in my 52 1/2V when I find a cap or part of a cap to finish it.
