Christmas eve and the day after Christmas  I received in the mail two really nice pens. I will regard them as Christmas presents, even if I did have to buy them for myself.  I took a couple of photos today, and thought I would share.

The first is a Waterman 0552 1/2 PSF in the somewhat rare Oriental pattern.  The pen doesn't have a clip (which I would prefer) but I actually got a real bargain on a BIN from eBay.

On the 26th, I got an even more exciting pen.

This is a Waterman 412 Sterling Silver over RHR.   Actually it came with a different nib - a two tone Parker Vac that wasn't properly installed.  It actually fell out when I tried to clean it.  I replaced it with the proper Waterman New York #2 nib that you see here.   I guess I will regard the Vac nib as a bonus.

Wow, nice pens!

Do you use them, or collect them, or both?

I don't collect, but I did get a "Christmas Present" of sorts, even though I don't celebrate.

Was on a bike ride last Friday and saw a garage sale sign. I stopped, and asked if they had any pens/watches. They had this Waterman's pen. I think it is nice. Original stub flex nib too! Will be nice for someone's collection.

I try to keep a few pens inked, and use those, then rotate others from my collection to be used.  I have way too many to use all of them, however.

That's a very nice Gothic pattern overlay.  Is it a 0552 ?  I think maybe I see the top of a 2 on the nib, but can't be sure.  The top of the cap is the Achilles heel for Waterman overlays, but that one looks good.

Yes, it is a 0552 model; I am quite the novice when it comes to the "names" of these pens, so it is called a Gothic, neat!

Cap end is perfect, no dents.

Well done, you were generous with yourself!

I would love to have a orange with overlay Waterman.

The nib in the 412 looks to be flex, is this correct?

Best

Here are two Watermans to scale with a Parker Vacumatic Senior Maxima, Vac-Band variant in Burgundy.  Since Vasco mentioned liking red with overlay...

Vasco,

Yes, I took it a very beat-up #12 BCHR pen.  It is super flexy, and should write great, assuming I ever ink it.  Strangely, here is the nib that the pen came with.

gallery_6983_116_28453.jpg

It wasn't really installed.  Looked like someone just stuck it between the feed and section without taking the pen apart.  Not sure what model Vac it belongs on. The nib is smaller than the nibs on my Vacs.  It is actually a nice nib though.

The 25 engraved is interesting and may help to find the correct pen for it!

Do ink that pen and use it,  both pen and nib are very interesting and should be a great writer pair

Pretty sure David's big pen is a 420 with a size 10 nib.  Don't know how anybody could ever write with that monster.

Can't compete with that for individual pens, for sure, but the three silver on red Waterman's I have make a good picture:

Not many people have a red-overlay Waterman.  Really not many people have three.

UAU, UAU UAU!!! Gorgeous pens!

My wife will blame you for the money I will have to spend to have a red with overlay Waterman!!

I´ve had a 52X red Waterman barrel ( no cap unfortunately, with no overlay in the past), but this thread makes me want to find one just like the ones you have.
