Not my core focus, though a clean intact Estie for $10 always is a safe bet, but you did get a ratherrrr nice 9000 series nib, alone worth well more than price of entry. Picture is terrible, but the nib does have a long-ish snout. If it turns out to be a 9778 not 9668 and you thus received a flex nib, all the better.

It has a 9668 Medium nib, that's around $15 NOS by itself.

 

I would think possibly resacced recenty or at least with that same nib in it. The stars and moon don't align by accident. 

 

Can't tell about any undamaged jewel or loose clip from the pics. I would presume you bid having backchannel answers to those

2 questions as those are the two most prevalent and severe Estie issues. (As inexpensive as they were originally, Esterbrook did not intend for jewels and clips to be repaired, they intended you just buy another pen. Jewels and clips were designed to go on quickly and consistently on the production line, not for ease of later repair.)

 

If the 9668 is in good shape you have $15 in just it and the J-bar assuming it's a usable factory one.

In my book, almost any Esti for $10 is a good deal.

Even if you have to replace the J-bar, that is only a $5 part.

In fact that is my target, to see if I can buy them for about $10.  As a result, I end up loosing much more than I win.  I think I only got 1 at $10, and a LOT of misses.

Received the pen today. The pen is scratch free, both jewels are intact, and the clip is nice and tight. The lever is loose. I'll have to fix that and re-sac it, then I should be good to go.
