I have a Waterman Pappilion FP that was given to me back in the late 90's. I used this pen for years then it sat until recently. I took it all apart soaked it in a pen flush mixture and noticed that the nib is different from all my other pens. The nib at the rear end has a tab the fits into the feed. Is this common?
From what I see on the nib is:
Waterman
Ideal
18k / 750
On the underside of the feed it is marked: F
I gather that the F stands for fine but my question is, what size nib it it and would I need to get a different feed if I wanted to put medium nib in. The nib is small seems like a 4 or 5.
Thanks,
Bill

I cannot promise about the feed, but suspect there was no or little difference in it for Fine vs Med nib.  The marking might just indicate the nib. Still, I could be wrong.

I'll ping some of our  members who do restorations, see if we can get you some answers about function.

While not familiar with the Pappilion per say, many later fountain pens have nibs which attach to their feeds. Your pen, Parker Sonnets, several other Watermans, some Monteblancs etc.

This is why it is important to try wiggling out both nib and feed together on most late fountain pens.

The F probably denotes nib size and I am certain you could replace a M nib into this feed.
