I wish this site all the success in the world, this is an example of the more the merrier, but I am just wondering what this site has to offer to both buyers and seller that can be viewed as a competitive advantage when compared with ebay or the Pen forums..... and so far I don´t see any clear advantage.

In my analysis :

- price - Lower that ebay but higher than any pen forum

- Safety - a lot lower than Ebay and the same when compared to all the pen dedicated forums

- Exposition - extremely reduced when compared to Ebay and lot lower than any of the pen forums.

Why should I has a seller sell there and as a buyer buy there?

Well I can see advantages for the buyers as reduced exposition of the website will decrease competition and therefore drive the prices lower. But that will make the sellers to define reserve prices and increase initial price and therefore reduce sales a lot and keep buyers off and that can be a vicious cycle hard to break...

Volume and exposition is key and I hope you can grow a lot as with those prices I don't feel abused like many times in Ebay. It can be interesting venue if you achieve a large audience, gain muscle and add safety for both sellers and buyers you can be on the right track, but your main competitor will be the forums not Ebay in my view.

Hope you succeed.

All the best

Your analysis is wrong.

PMAuction is a very safe place, which makes use of the latest computer security protocols. So the concept that it is a less safe place than the forum is absolutely wrong.

PMAuction is associated with one of the most important law offices of Turin. PMAuction does not authorize payments with credit cards and not save credit card numbers. All payments are made with systems such as Paypal, Google Checkout, Authorize.net, 2Checkout. All payment system allow buyer to open a refund request for fraudolent activity, uncorrect item, damaged item and more
PMAuction have an internal system to track pack and can do it with most of the internaltional parcel service as USPS. Also all seller are allowed to ask fees refund if selling is not completed properly.

PMAuction is young, but is consistently listed in the major search engines and all objects can be shared via the major social networks, so exposition is good.

If I might make a suggestion:

As long as the auction format is fixed-end, there needs to be some sort of built-in sniping service.

Fixed-end format auctions are essentially sealed-bid auctions, where bidders are allowed to place bids prior to closing, but where it is very much to their advantage not to.

eBay and some of its competitors are large enough that third-party providers offer sniping services; this isn't the case for smaller auction companies, so it is crucial that they provide this service themselves.

I do not have the time to manually place bids at the end of auctions. If I am forced to place a bid early, I simply won't bother, as there are too many people who will just follow me around, figuring that if a prominent dealer or collector is willing to pay a certain amount, paying one increment more is surely going to be worthwhile.

We have shiping service and our inner sniping service is free. Also we working to add external sniping service.

As far as I can see, there is no internal sniping service.

The key feature needed here is the ability to set the time of the bid.

Proxy bidding allows you to set the amount of the bid, but not the time. As soon as the bid is placed, it is public and anyone can figure it out by incrementally bidding against you.

It would seem that this Columbus on your site is the same as this Columbus on Ebay.

How will this be resolved if there are winning bids on both sites? They close within a few hours of one another.

This is the sort of thing that would give me concerns about trusting your site.

Please join the Mabie Todd Swan project where I am trying to sort out the undocumented mess that is American Mabie Todd's from the 1930's. The last pens that MT seemed to advertise were the "Eternal" pens, and then the company put out a wide range of different styles, shapes, sizes and filling systems before eventually closing up shop. I invite you to post your pictures of your American pens

Users can sell in the same pen Both sites. As the admin of pmauction I know that you have not place bid on this pen and as you know, this pen on pmauction have reserve price, on ebay the same pen is unprotected and open to fake bid.

try to bid on pmacution and I think you will find a very trust and reliable site.

Selling the same pen on both sites is a problem. Different people win the two different auctions. Who gets the pen? I realize that it is hard to prevent this sort of thing, but when pointed out the correct response would be to close the auction.

I'd love to see an eBay alternative. But the response to any and all suggestions/critiques seems to be defensive "our way is right" which makes me concerned.

It doesn't help if you give an answer to a question that wasn't asked. Could you possibly answer the question as to how you would resolve two people winning the same pen listed on two auction sites?

Seller is forced to close one of the two auctions. If the seller does not close the auction on other website, PMAUCTION close it on your site and suspends the seller.

In the reported case, seller ended the listing on ebay.

All is write in a section of the Help Page.
