I think its important I post my last experience with PMauction.

 

I have very successfully purchased 4 pens off PMAuction - I'm very satisfied with the result, the pens are of a high quality, and the prices were better than reasonable - bordering on bargains. I attribute this to the lack of bidders on the site right now which is probably a result of just being new.

 

My last effort was to buy the Chilton listed above. It was a 5" Wingflow (I can't say for sure which model, I don't know these pens yet). Opening bid was 100 Euro and I put in a bid of 150 Euro. Immediately the bid was set to 150. Just to be sure I would win, I decided to use their snipe bid mechanism and put in a bid of 300 Euro.

 

I received notification I was the winner of the auction. Final price - 300 Euro. It seems that is still an excellent price for this Chilton, but I was concerned. I went back to look at the bid history, and there were only two bids - my first one for 150 and my second one for 300.

 

I wrote to Labeo, the seller and the administrator of the site, and suggested something might have gone wrong with the software. He replied that there was a "hidden bidder" that bid 290 Euro.

 

I suppose its possible that there was one other snipe that was somehow hidden for 290 Euro, but I find the notion of hidden bidders to lack the transparency that I need to trust this auction site. I've declined to pay for this auction and I won't be bidding any further on this site.

just to be correct labeo is not the admin of PMAUCTION but only a seller. Admin and funder of PMAUCTION is Alessia (Alex) and you can contact the admin to: service@pmauction.net
You have not sent any messages to the admin of PMAUCTION, and I can not know what you've asked the seller and what he answered to you but I can write that PMAUCTION haven't not proxy bid option so if you place a offer of 300 euro it will appear as such.

 

I think you placed a first bid of 150 euro and a second bid of 300 euro with sniping correct? If yes, without proxy bid final price will be 300 euro the same price of your last offer.

Your explanation perfectly solves the problem (other than why Stella told me there was a hidden bidder who bid 290). But proxy bidding is the normal form of bidding on Ebay, and sniping does not suggest otherwise. Your help pages suggest bids on this site are proxy bids. From your help page:

 

You can also place a proxy bid, proxy bidding allows you to place your “High Bid”. At all times you will only pay the lowest required bid should you win the auction. For example, if the current bid on an auction is 500.00 you can place a proxy bid of 2,000. Should you remain the only bidder you will only pay 500.00. However should the item receive other bids the site will automatically re-bid for you (upto 2,000 in this scenario) to ensure you remain in the lead.

Ah, I see you have edited your help page to remove that paragraph. You might want to remove this one too:

 

If your bid is high enough to take the lead in the auction a confirmation message will be displayed to you, however if your bid has not taken the lead be it due to a higher proxy bid or not meeting the reserve price you will be invited to make a further bid.

 

I retract anything that might have suggested there was foul play at hand, I will chalk it up to growing pains of a new site/service. However, I think for the people who are coming from being active Ebay bidders, your help pages should make it very clear that this service does not operate the same way as Ebay and that your bid is absolute and NOT a proxy. It might help clear up some confusion.

I have not edited page, thanks to you I discovered a delay update on the cron jobs of the server. Placing bid # on Help Page was modified only February 7, 2014 when the proxy bid was removed due to fraudelt shill bidding activity by some sellers. 

 

Sorry if the cron jobs of PMAUCTION had some delay on updatig page, thanks to you we had fix the cron jobs bug.

 

I know ebay have proxy bid, but you know also that shill bidding and fake offer to increase the final sal price is very common on ebay.com and we working to do a little good ebay alternative free from fake offer and shill bidding activity..
