So, after at least 6-10 auctions where I got overrun by rabid 51 bidders (is it me, or is this a trend now?), I figured I'd shift my sights a little to something more out of the way. The pen isn't here yet, but here's the eBay page.

Frankly, even I was surprised that no one else happened upon this or tried to snipe it, considering that right under the same seller, was a Lifetime Imperial VI with quite a bit more competition that ended with just enough time left for the curious to spill over to 'ink pen #2.' eBay competition aside, it looks to me like a decent shape Lifetime Imperial IV from the 60's. I'll update with better pictures whenever it gets here. In the meantime, time to find another Sheaffer converter.

Note to self: don't operate Snorkels for fun.

Nice.

While I have not focused on the 1960's Lifetimes and Imperials (not quite the same thing), I do have a remarkable original catalogue from around 1963, one I'm overdue to peruse again.

1960's-1970's Sheaffers can be addictive.

The price is very good ( surely there's close to $20 of gold in the nib?), a well made quality pen. I like clips that actually hold the pen in the pocket, this one does exactly that. I hope it delivers the "goods" when it arrives !!

Little wonder when you read the careless auction tittle: Sheaffers White dot Lifetime Ink Pen. # 2

If the seller had headlined the auction with Sheaffer Imperial cartridge pen maybe he would have got a better deal (and you a worse one).

The only converter that fits this pen is the so called red-button converter.

The push-button converter? The one I have has a black button.

I was fairly certain that a normal piston converter would fit this one. Googling around a bit seemed to say that, but, if it doesn't, I'm probably going to jerry-rig one together out of a cartridge cut in half, or, give a shot at resaccing an old squeeze converter.
