I just bought a  Canada 12 Pocket Self Filler in very good original condition.

When I opened the pen, I was surprised to see a transparent sac, and I wondered if this could be original.

If it is, I will leave it in place as it seems to be pliable and doesn't leak.  If it's a replacement (which I suspect) I will replace it before use/sale.

So, does anyone know if this sac is original type?

Incidentally, the nib is astonishingly flexible!

Shy of being able to give you the exact history, I can say that the sac is not original to the pen, or the time period.

Oxidized sacs can take on a brown/yellow cast (usually hard at that point), but I would not expect a clear sac from 1916 or so.
