Can't say I've seen a Parker 51 thermometer holder before, but I assumed they exist.

Have to shoot some pics of this (got it late this afternoon). But here is the original eBay listing with decent pics.

Full-sized FP is marked USA on cap and aero filler. Thermometer has no country marking. Cap on thermometer was definitely made to fit the case. Doesn't appear to be a pencil rework. Length of holder with cap on snugly is 4.75 inches.

FP appears to have been inked once. Both pieces very clean.

Not quite on the scale of my Golden Arrow sumgai, but I'm happy.

It's not a demi pen barrel; tried that - the ODs are the same, so the cap wouldn't fit over the barrel.  Ring at the top of the thermometer barrel looks like something from a regular cap activated pencil and the metal stem looks the same, just shoved in further.  Wild!  You are sumgai.

Length of plastic barrel before cap retaining ring: 3-3/32"

An ad for the "Medical Trios" courtesy of Ernesto Soler.  (He also pointed out that the case in the first posting is Canadian.)  Note they were also available in 21 Super and Jotter.  The ridge clip Jotter dates the ad to circa 1957-58 (need to look up when Francis Meinhardt says the feathered Jotter clip appeared).

This feather-clip Jotter set sold on ebay in 2011:
