I've just finished fixing up a Swan Minor 2 which I got yesterday.  It's a lovely pen, my only concern is the nib seats further in than the ones I've seen on goodwriters blog and other websites.  I wonder if the depth to which the nib is inserted affects the performance of the nib in any way, especially flexibility? It does write beautifully with medium flex, but more al dente than wet noodle...

John, that is a nice looking pen!

As far as I can tell there is nothing wrong with the setting of the nib

The seating of the nib looks fine, John.  Some nibs just go in a little further than others.  I'm sure it won't affect the writing at all.  Beautiful pen.  Mabie Todd's patterns employed more subtle colours than other British manufacturers.

Thanks both of you.  Deb, it was finding one on your blog that made me decide to buy this one.  Yes, Mabie Todd certainly knew their colours.  I can't believe it is eighty years old. There is brassing on the clip and band, but otherwise it is in perfect condition and required very little work, just a new sac, a good clean, and a light hand-polish.

I couldn't click "Buy Now" fast enough!  Original listing
