I'm pleased that my photo illustration was chosen again for the cover of PENnant Magazine published by Pen Collector of America. Think I've had every cover or close to it the last couple years. This one is of a Gold Bond Hercules, a pen manufactured for the huge Montgomery Ward catalogue/chain store. The article focuses on these beautiful pens from 1930, part of a series about this label, produced throughout the 1930's. I had some fun with it.
PCA provides three issues of PENnant plus access to the most vast downloadable pen literature on earth. Prior PENnants, prior PenWorld International, and hundreds of vintage catalogues and pamphlets from the pen makers of yore. Want to learn about Parker Duofold from the ground up, explore oodles of 1920's Parker catalogues. And so forth.
No on has written in detail before about the Gold Bond pens, high quality colorful pens offered at a bit of a discount from the products of the Big Five pen makers of the day.
Here's my cover shot.
