Well, I've got a problem.

I went fairly crazy on a trip at the beginning of the year, and I ended up with a myriad of pens, some of which I've had trouble selling- chief among these are a few Esterbrooks that have broken jewels.

My question is this- What do you do when your Esties have broken jewels?

The only real solution to this is to find junk/donor pens that you can salvage a good jewel.

You may have luck trolling the bay for loose jewels, but using donor pens is the best bet!

I was "told" that all the jewels are the "same" except the top jewel on the larger "j's"

is this true?

I need a few J jewels, I am still buying esties, even with broken jewels, figure sooner or later the jewel train will pull into the station.

Wasn't someone making these?

Right Rick!

The barrel jewels are basically the same on both J/LJ/SJ, and they are also cap jewels on SJ/LJ pens.

I recall that someone on the forums was making jewels, but they were not exactly the same!

Frank

The tricky part for me has always been getting the donor jewels out without damaging them. Is there a trick that I don't know?

Knock them out from the back.

I've tried that. I must be doing something wrong though.
