Widget is quite right. The 'cropped' effect seemed to only arise with the last board software update and it confused me as well at the time.

Just to be clear, the 500kb limit and thumbnail size in posts only applies when you use the 'attach files' option to add pictures. Copying and pasting the BB code from a gallery picture as described earlier has no such restrictions.

David's point about the size of your images is pertinent as well, I usually reduce the size of pictures to about 800 pixels wide before I upload them.

Andy

Thanks all for your responses.

Yes I worked out the thing about the chopped images,  I never work in pixels, but in kB.  I always reduce my pictures and did for the thread I started.

Camera is a six-year old Ricoh, 7.1MP

What I still do not know or understand is why I am now limited, seemingly for ever, to 6.62kB of allowance for attachments!

Hi Cob,

Using the GALLERY, you will have storage that so far no one has managed to exceed. The upload-to-individual-post feature though has a 500kb total cap, counting all uploads to all individual posts. If you have 6kb left, it is because your various other uploads-to-posts (NOT to Gallery) have used 494kb, leaving the 6kb.

I invite you to load images to GALLERY then paste them into threads via the one line of BBC Code found as a Share Option in each image in Gallery Albums. In fact (one reason we offer GALLERY) ANY image in GALLERY put there by anyone can be pasted into any of your posts, allowing a progressively larger library of pen images available to share in our discussions.

regards

d

You can easily delete your current attachments to return your full 500kb allowance by going to 'My Settings' (click on the arrow next to your user name at the top of the page when you are logged in), then select 'Manage Attachments' in the left hand column.

Sorry David, what is BBC code?  I don't know the term.

I can find no codes, only links to things like "Reddit" and Stumbleupon"

I don't know these things; do I register with one of these to get the code?

Thanks

Cob

This is the idiots guide to using BBC code.  The 1 I needed.

Go to your gallery

Left click on the picture you want to post

left click on options

Left click Share links (the bottom 1)

Left click BBC code (top 1)  It will turn blue

Right click on BBC code and select copy

Go to Forums.

Write post

Right click and select paste and you should get an allow screen.  Allow.  When you enter post your picture will miraculously appear.
