i just won this pen on ebay, a waterman red ripple--but which one? i have a red-ripple 52, but this one seems a tad chunkier (at least the clip does--or are my eyes just deceiving me?). also looks to be in very good shape.

the ad didn't specify any model number. is there a tell-tale sign or element i should be seeing that will give away the model? many thanks.

Jose, I assume there is no model number on the end of the barrel, or you wouldn't ask.  If it is a #2 nib, which it looks about like, then I would say it is a 52.  However, it looks like a wood grain rather than a red ripple.  The earlier clips were broader than the later ones - which would fit with a wood grain also. I believe Waterman called the wood grain pattern "mottled", just as they had for their earlier black and red pattern (which didn't look at all like wood).

Thanks both for your responses. I don't have the pen yet--am just showing the eBay pics--so I don't know if there's a number at the base of the barrel or not. But if you folks say 52 then that's what l assume it to be ;)
