Osmiroid 65's are normally down there with Platignum, Nova, and post 1967 Conway Stewarts ;-) as pens nobody really wants.

Clearly not the case with this ebay example:  291186722435     Just about the most interesting bit of business on ebay yesterday, it has me searching the darkest corners of my pen room for cobweb coated examples of my own

Blimey!  An Osmiroid 65!  I have blue one with most of its box; I must get busy making it a) work and b:  smart!

Thanks for the tip.

Osmiroid 65s and 75s are a little more highly regarded than those other pens you mention.  They remain in some demand by calligraphers.  291186722435 became the subject of a bidding war between a couple of people who got carried away.  That's often explained by too much Grouse Whisky and not enough water.

I think the marbled coloration made that one a little more unusual than most. I can see that it might have appeal to people who collect 65s & 75s.  And yes, they are held in higher esteem than most other pens by calligraphers, including later Osmiroids that took cartridges. They were much better than Platignum.  My favorite pen for calligraphy was a Pelikan 120 but Osmiroid had a few more nib choices.

I would never desecrate my whisky with an 'e'.

You are right Deborah, I might desecrate my whiskey with water, but certainly not my whisky (even if my preferred is a lowly Glen Grant).

Have you tried Lady Margot? It has just won an award for blended whiskies.

Back in the day when I did drink whisky - I don't any more - Laphroaig was my tipple.  Or Whyte and Mackay when I went slumming...

Same as my friend in Belgium. He even bought me a square foot of I'm not sure what. I prefer the softer Speyside's, but don't mind a drop of smoky peat occasionally.

Currently waiting for a mandarin Duofold (just to get back to pens) but the Italian Post Office is sodding me around, claiming that they couldn't deliver when it has never reached this country (the wonders of tracking!).
