No wonder the rod didn't want to move. I try to pull the rod out just a bit so as not to break off the feed tail when unscrewing the section. This one was a bear.

Discovering the inside of the barrel is crusted with rust but not ink strangely enough.

Don't poke youself! Tetanus written all over it. Yeah, the vac fil rods with black coatings tend to corrode more. How long is it? I have a few extra sizes lying around.
