Thanks for that.  Are they friction fit and is the rubber very brittle ie. prone to cracking?  It's all your fault I've bought another pen I am supposed to be reducing but I saw your 94s and just had to have 1.  The 2 I liked best were the bluegreen and the moss agate.  The rose is a close 2nd.  Can't separate the first 2.  I did a search on E Bay and up popped thebluegreen my joint first pen so I knew I had to have it.  I harrassed the poor seller until she agreed to let me have it.  At first she said she was in no hurry to sell and would relist at Christmas.  I didn't know wether to just put a bid in and risk losing it for a couple of pounds so tried pleading and it worked.

She said she's glad it's going to a good home and will post on Monday.  Job done.

It is friction fit. Make sure you use heat and you shouldn't have any problem. I have never cracked a hard rubber pen when removing the section, although the other day I did apply too much heat and warped the barrel a bit out of round.  It turned out to be easy to fix.  I have always found Waterman pens to be about the easiest to get the section out of anyway.

Lucky you didn't like the Rose best - it is considerably more expensive, if you can find one.  ;)

I just noticed your recent posts over on the Repair forum.  I will probably have some questions for you on electroplating - I have been wanting to learn how to do that for a while now. But I will post them there.

As you can see from Ron I'm no expert and only do it to make my own pens look more pleasing.

Allan, that's a terrific spread of 94s! But I notice there is no black with standard trim in the collection.

Are those less common or just less desirable?

Best,

Daniel

Don't think I have a photo of it, but I have a USA-made red Ripple 94 with a #7-style red color band at the top of the cap.

Came from a Waterman honcho's estate, along with other non-production stuff.

Daniel,

The black is very hard to find.  Even more rare is the red ripple 94. There are a lot of 94 variations, considering that there are examples with riveted caps and either nickel or gold-colored trim for many of the colors.  Some of these combinations are very rare however.

David, a red ripple 94 with color band on the cap must be almost unique. I have a pretty good collection of 94's going, but I will certainly never have all of the variations. That's OK, it's the hunt that is the fun part, anyway. :P
