This week I have been unable to access FPnuts.com.  It was just this site, all other websites were accessible to me.  I believe that my IP address had somehow gotten banned by the website software.  It wasn't intentional, but somehow it must have happened. Yesterday, I was able to access the site using a proxy server, but I couldn't log in to post - so that was not acceptable.  Besides, I picked up a bunch of malware from that free proxy server.

So for several days I have been trying to change my WAN (public) IP address.  I finally succeeded last night.  This morning, I have a new public IP address, and I am now able to get to FPnuts.  Surprising how difficult it was to change the IP.  If you google it, you can find about a hundred different ways to do it - but none of them worked for me.

Anyway, David, you don't have to worry about "unbanning" me - since I am now somebody else..... or something.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.

I am the gentle autumn rain.

I am the smoke going up the flue.

I am gum on the sole of your shoe.

In other words, you can't get rid of me.   B)

Ya, we wouldn't ban you.  I don't know that we actually have banned anybody.  Maybe one or two - there's a lot of crazy people in the world but, Procyon is good people.

Hey Roger, I picked up an interesting Sheaffer Flat Top a couple of days ago.  Taking some pictures right now.

PS.   I am only 48% crazy.  I know because I took one of those tests on Facebook.

Today, it happened the same to me. I could access all addresses but FPB :( . Fortunately, it lasted only some hours. The cause may be a maintenance of the host server or of another one on the chain.

Last week, my account on FBP suddenly disappeared. I am new on this site, so I thought I was banned and I wrote about this 'censorship'. Fortunately, David read my message and he helped me to re-create and validate the account with the same username and password. Another mystery of the technology....

Hi Allan,

Very glad you are back. I'm on vacation in the Berkshire Mountains with very limited internet access (capped data Hughes dish in town where there is -- seriously-- no cell service so I cannot use my 4G). Despite the purging of many spam memberships, I don't believe any actual IPs have been blocked, though when I am home next week I indeed shall look into that.

As an aside, FPB seemed to be down altogether for a couple hours today, so folks with failure to access today probably did not have problem d/t to even an IP ban.

regards

david

And, just to be clear, since that thread title might seem inflammatory, merely one being has ever been blocked here.  Banning is nigh impossible here. We even keep around some overt trolls, as they keep the place sparking.

amazing how well a board runs when there is no threat of being possibly banned?

who'da thunk that?

I mean we had some nimrod posts here, but it has functioned quite well and peaceably....

(I was going to do a "here" and "here" and "here" post, lol... but let sleeping dogs lay...)
