I just saw an auction for an interesting Duofold with a clip that has the "D" missing in Duofold. Is this some non-factory replacement clip or a factory error?

I suggest caution.

Though camera angles and lighting can create illusion, the  "ARKER" stamp in the picture appears to be double outline of letters without much depth between the outlines.  Parker imprints of this sort typically are nice deep continuous imprint.

That said, I suppose factory accidents can happen> This one would be impressive.

My guess is that someone polished the bejebers out of the top of the clip as the pattent impress is missing too and the 'Arker' gets deeper the lower down you go. Look at how rough the clip is below the letters compared to the top.

Also look at the comment about the barrel being well rubbed and hard to read and how shiny it is too.

Sure looks as if that clip's been buffed extremely aggressively, and possibly plated afterwards.

I blame it on Canada!
