The arena of re-badged fountain pens is popular with serious collectors of old pens and indeed still offers room for research, as many of the details have not yet been well explored.

Re-badged pens are pens that carry brand markings for a label owned by the seller, who had the pens manufactured by a different company, usually a major pen manufacturer, while the seller himself did not make pens.  This is akin to modern Sears Kenmore washing machines. There is no Kenmore manufacturing plant. The label is owned by Sears, the machines over the years made for it by actual manufacturers such as Whirlpool.

Among old pen brands, Diamond Medal was a Sears brand, the pens made at times by Barrett-National and by Parker.  Gold Bond was a Montgomery Ward brand, pens made for it at times by Barrett-National, Wahl, and Waterman. Most of these date 1920s-1930s

The Rexall drugstore chain was a bit of a strange critter.  It was a meta-name, originally created by a large group of independent pharmacies who wanted to pool resources, the name eventually being leased to other pharmacies.  Its origin was not quite typical ground-up growth followed by franchising.

Rexall had pens made for it to sell under store labels at least including Monogram and Belmont. Signet too?   The pens  were manufactured at least by Moore and by Kraker.

The following is a rather hefty Monogram set, the imprint ("Monogram... sold only by Rexall, etc") well preserved on the barrel. This one shows obvious Moore cues. This is the only one of its type I've noticed.  So, I bought it at the Boston Pen Show in September (2014).

Very nice.  I have three Rexall Monogram pens in BCHR but not very black anymore.  All were stickered but the top pen's sticker has come off.  The bottom one is a Self Filler.  The other two are lever fillers.  Only the top one has a pocket clip.  All have Monogram nibs.

Very nice.  I wonder if close inspection would yield clues as to manufacturer...

I have a small Rexall pen...Rexall, POCKET PEN, UNITED DRUG CO. on the barrel.  It has a Warranted, 14 Karat 4 nib. The pen is 3 3/4" long and 5 1/8" posted and an eye dropper filler.  Can anyone tell me who the manufacturer was.  I collect Moore Pens so I hope it was made by Moore.  Were the nibs on the Rexall pens all warranted nibs or did some of them carry the name of the manufacturer?

This is the first time I've tried to post with photos.  It appears I should have made my  files larger.

The top two pens are stamped on the barrel The Monogram Pen Sold only at the Rexall store Pat'd 19?? On one it looks like 08 and the other maybe 10 for the dates. Top nib is Monogram 2 and 13 on the end of the barrel

Middle pen has nib marked Momogram 3 ∆ with 31 on end of barrel. Bottom pen also had Monogram 3 ∆ with Rexall Pocket Pen Self Filler on barrel and 24 on end of pen. Bottom pen has stamp on cap U.S. Pat 969198

The dates on the pen are probably later since Sheaffer started selling his lever pens around 1912 I think.

Edit I just looked up the patent number on the self filler and the patent date is Sept 6 1910.  That makes an interesting time for these pens since two are lever fillers that possibly predate Sheaffer's.

That's a seriously nice set, those grey hatch types ( Conway used them) have great depth to them that you can't catch on camera ..or my Conway has..is this one likewise?

The little 72 A is a Moore. It arrived from ebay along with the larger set, rebadged as Monogram.
