I've had this Servo awhile, finally came around to its turn (it's Thanksgiving, so to honor Arlo I'll say "it finally came around on the guitar again..."), and it cleaned up into this amazing pen. But, it's unlike any other I've been able to find on searching. With apologies for the suboptimal lighting...it's my phone under an assortment of lights, since I am away from home, camera, lighting for the weekend. The pen is brown celluloid with greenish marbling. It's wonderfully translucent.
I rubbed a little talc into the imprint so you could see it:
It's clearly later than the pens by Servo and the Moore-Servo, past the BHR Moores. It has a folded-over clip and a Durium nib which is buttery soft, unlike others I've seen from this era. Is this 30's? Was Welty still involved at that point or was the model name just residual? I love the " " around the Servo. Were the quote marks just incorrect usage, or saying "hey look it's a Servo"? Or, maybe "yeah, really not quite a Servo"? I've not seen other pens with quote marks around their model names.
Also, as I posted on the other board, this little loop of wire was wound over the section nipple, holding the sac in place. Curious.
Thanks for any info.
