Anyone care to observe why I'm happy about having just won this ebay auction?

Either it's OS or because of the radius clip, thus made near the end of the red-vein grey pearl color?

Don't see any crazing and the color looks like a keeper. First one I've seen with the radius clip. You've probably completed some mini collection or added to. Good find!

It's a "short and stout," or whatever you call them. Girth of a standard sized Balance but about 1/2" shorter. Not common, especially in the red-veined color and even less so with a radius clip.

I won a very similar pen + pencil on eBay a few years ago.

Nice catch!

Radius clip with the red veined gray pearl puts it in 1935, right?  Just one year.  Color looks pretty vibrant.  Is it normal for the radius clip to be mounted that high?  It reminds me of models to come much later.

Your favorite number is 5383776?

When looking at this auction, eBay suggests I might like auction 251569388258.  Susupect the OP may like it despite the name on the barrel...

The Gregg Shorthand mark always charms.  I really need to a shot with a bunch of these in a row.

So, the Balance looks not to be a large model. It either is lady size (short/slender) or the  stubby (short/standard).  The late clip is  the charmer. Had a set long ago and had  sold it. Since  then I grew more steeped in the Balance esoterica.  Happy to add this one back to the collection.

regards
