Hi, about a week ago our 32 year old son moved back home with us while he waits for a job opening in the Phoenix area......He is a Master Tech related to automotive engine repairs (he is currently working)......Now don't get me wrong, we absouloutly love this change as we lost our youngest son 9 years ago, he was 20 when he passed away :-(

Interestingly enough, and I never would have predicted this, but all three of my children are adults who still live at home, each for different reasons.  Times have changed.  My oldest is 27, and we have him paying a flat rate that is still a very good deal for him.  While he is occasionally frustrated with his mother's pantry organizational skills (or lack thereof), and with his sister's bathroom-dwelling habits, he seems adequately comforted by the growth of his savings and investments.  Indeed, compared to myself at the same age, he is rich.

Wow, that is interesting! I was still in high school when I turned 18, had to pay rent right away, worked 3 jobs (cafeteria assistant, coin shop, and parking lot cashier) weekdays. Weekends were gardening route and swap meets to make rent to my mother who kept raising the amount by $5.00 every time she saw me making a bit more money. Finally I was paying "real rent" amount in 1989 of $600.00 a month and finishing college night classes to get a B.S. in Real Estate Accounting, while she went off to Hawaii and other places on my rent money, so I left, never looked back, and I am better for it.

Now she is in an assisted living home, elder's home, and nobody visits her, wonder why?
