Happy David.  Eye-candy indeed, but not from the archives. This be fresh.  I didn't make it to the Philadelphia Pen Show this year,  so I don't have fresh pen show finds to offer, but the following juuuuust arrived in the mail, courtesy of an auction win.  Good on you if you know why it is special/high-cachet/what-have-you. A fair number of FPB's   more experienced collectors will know right off. Many of you-- even those of you who like Sheaffer-- might not.  Feel free to chime in.

David;

Actually not a crest as it predates the term.  1937 P47T Sterling cap on gray striated barrel.  Very nice pens and worth a few bucks.

Hi,

Well, either way it is part of the Crest Family, even if the pens of this general sort did not get the name Crest until a year after first appearing, starting out along the lines not of Crest but of De Luxe Visualated Sterling blah blah. ;)

However, the Sterling pen in fact did make an appearance not just in 1937 but in 1938 and was described by the "new" name Crest that year.

And, yes, Sterling Crest is pretty rare. Most collectors will never handle one. Fairly few will ever own one.

So, the find this week, added to my prior stash, makes for something truly not seen much.

David;

Got me!  It's not pictured in '38 but, it is indeed mentioned.

So you have 3 pens, but only 2 caps? That's kinda sad.

Not so sad. The barrel was a bonus and is in nice shape. An upgrade. Or a part someone might need someday if he has a cap.

Sheaffers of the 20's - 50's are the hot item this year.
