Hi,

What's your experience on the Fountain Pen Geeks Forum?  After hearing about it during the LA Pen show last weekend, I was thinking about joining them. I still love your board, too, David.

Best,

John Martinson

Feel free to PM me or email, John. I value *this* board for the depth of knowledge and gathering of cognoscenti of pens. That said, FPG has been my home board since I pretty much left FPN a couple years ago, and I really like it. A good balance, having the two boards.

You will find that such a thread here or on FPG would not be closed as joining multiple on-line groups promotes the hobby.

Well, pen people who are in the know, can always come here for reference. One thing I have been seeing not enough of, whether at pen shows across the country or online, is new blood.

When I got involved about seven years ago in the hobby, I thought I was the only one who collected pens. So when I found there was a group, and then finally a show? Wow, that changed everything.

Now, new boards or forums mean new conversations, too. People still rely on that FPN if they're just getting started. Still, didn't the ZOSS list and the Pentrace Yellow board used to be as fun? In all the boards I've seen, or been on, the inevitable fact is the whole hobby is aging and we need to find new places to go to get people excited about pens. Not just collecting pens or identifying them, but using them as an enjoyable part of everyday life.

John,

To navigate through FPG has been quite rich for me... in fact most of those forums have something to offer... Sometimes I get tired of FPN because the pens I am interested on offer less information and a lot of "one time question to identify a pen" and the answers are already there hundred times... it seems the people asking is simply too lazy to look for answers as a first step... FPB has an advantage, more people who really knows about pens and you get rich and extensive answers... with FPG, as FarmBoy and JonSzanto wrote, offer a good balance... I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Regards
